We will end the evening with Compline. Series is from March 5 – April 2.

Lent Quiet Day - The Bible Study group has arranged a Lenten retreat day at Faith Lutheran & anyone who wishes to join us is welcome. The date & time is April 1 from 10 am – 3 pm. Pastor Dave Saude will be leading the event. Please register by March 30 by calling the office. If you have any questions about the event, please talk to a member of the Bible Study group.

Diocesan Events

St. Philip's Garage & Cookie Sale, Sat. April 4, 9 am to 3 pm.

The International Order of St Luke will hold a Healing event on April 5, 2009 at St Aidan's Anglican Church corner of Kingsway and Campbell beginning with Prayer Team Training at 4pm, a Pot Luck Dinner at 5:30 pm and a Healing Service at 7pm. During the service there will be an opportunity for laying on of hands & anointing of oil. A healing testimony will be given by Mr. Wes Schroepfer, reflecting his personal experience of forgiveness & deliverance. Wes is a member of St Aidan's & is presently residing at Rockwood Correctional Facility, where he is serving a life sentence. He is hoping to be out on full parole in the coming weeks. It was during his penitential journey, that Wes was reconnected with Jesus Christ. His testimony is a powerful witness to the healing power of Christ. For more information call 489-3390.

Community Events

The Vital Seniors are pleased to announce that the attendance of the monthly luncheons for Jan. & Feb. 2009 were 75 & 65 respectively. The 140 hardy souls represent a new record for two consecutive months. We are also pleased to announce that Sandra Brabant who was nominated last June has been appointed Vice President. The upcoming luncheon is this Tuesday at noon. Call Ray at 256-8660 to pre-register.

Job Opportunity: Manitoba Pioneer Camp is looking for a Seasonal Administrator for the months of May through August, who would assist the full-time Office Administrator, particularly in the area of camper transportation, logistics & hospitality. This position would be based in the camp's Winnipeg office through the Urban Green Team. It would be a minimum of 25 hours a week at $8.75 per hour. Applicants must be between 18-24 years of age. If you are interested or know anyone who would be great for this job, please call Jeremy or Amy at 788-1070.

The HOME/Omuka project seeks to offer, schooling fees, a safe house, food & clothing to young men who have become orphaned in their teenage years. This is a new project in the Diocese & a very essential ministry in Uganda. There is a BINGO BOWL fund-raising event to support this project on Saturday, April 4, 2009 starting at 7:45 pm at Dakota Bowling Lanes, 1085 St. Mary’s Road. Cost is $12 per person. Bring a church group, bowl, eat, maybe take home a silent auction prize & support the boys who are trying hard to make a better world for themselves. All Anglicans of Rupert’s Land are invited to attend The Diocesan “Mothering Sunday” Gathering on Sunday March 22, 2009 (Lent 4) 7:30 pm at St. John’s Cathedral (135 Anderson Avenue, Wpg). This service incorporates the renewal of Baptismal and Ordination vows along with the Blessing of Oils (oil of Chrism, for the sick and for the catechumenate). It also includes prayer and commissioning of personal and corporate mission-centred ministries. Come and be part of this once-a-year special gathering at the Cathedral, the ‘mother church’ of our Diocese.

Horace Patterson Foundation Fund Raiser

The Horace Patterson Foundation was started by the family of the late Horace Patterson, a Jamaican Canadian who lived in Winnipeg for many years.

This foundation awards scholarships to African Canadians pursing a post secondary education. Funds are obtained from donations, from a walkathon held in June each year, and starting in 2008, from a Jazz concert, put on by Steve Kirby (a lecturer in Jazz Studies at the U. of M.) & his “Jazz on Wheels” group.

This year the concert will be on March 29th at 5 pm at the Caboto Centre (on Wilkes Ave.). Tickets are $15 each. There will be a cash bar & finger foods for sale.

American Women's Club Bridge Luncheon Fund Raiser

On Saturday, May 2, 2009, the American Women's Club will be hosting its Annual Bridge Luncheon for 180 bridge players at Westworth United Church from 11:30 - 3:30. Play bridge, enjoy lunch, and enter to win fabulous raffle prizes. Proceeds from the luncheon will go to worthy causes here in Winnipeg. Tickets are $60 per table. Penny Jar. For many years there has been a Penny Jar at St. Mary Magdalene on Sundays and funds raised have gone to various causes. At the last Vestry meeting, it was agreed to begin to raise funds for an outdoor bench to be placed in the Sage Creek area suitably labelled so as to indicate presence and an invitation to join us for worship. Please contribute your spare change to the jar for this great cause.

All Saints Choir sings Herbert Howells Evensong, today, March 1st, at 4:30 p.m., at the church Broadway & Osborne.
The annual World Day of Prayer service will be held Friday, March 6/09 at various parishes throughout Winnipeg. Services near us will be held at Trinity United Church, 933 Summerside, Ft. Garry at 7:30 pm and Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Rd, Windsor Park at 7:30 pm. By participating in this year's WDP service, you are joining in worship with Christians around the world and in more than 2,000 communities across Canada. This year's service is written by the women of Papua New Guinea on the theme "In Christ There Are Many Members But One Body".\
