Service of Light - Thursday, December 8, 7- 8:30 pm, St. Mark’s, 9 St. Mark Place. This service is intentionally focused for us who have hurts, disappointments, losses in our lives that we can bring them to God. We will also recognize through all of this that we have many gifts to praise God for. Please come out and be part of this evening of worship


A Service of Celebration will be held at St. John’s Cathedral on Wed. November 30, 7:00 pm, to mark the 35th Anniversary of the Ordination of Women in the Canadian Anglican Church.

Can You help?

White Gifts
Please take a tag that the Sunday School has provided and buy the selected gift. Put the tag on the wrapped gift and place it in the box labelled “White Gifts”. The gifts will be blessed on Sunday, December 18, 2011.

St. Matthew’s-Maryland Community Ministry
• Toys/gifts for children: unwrapped, preferably new, non-violent gifts for all ages of children, remembering especially older children (toys without batteries are preferable).
• Toiletries: shampoo, toothpaste, deodorant, bath soap etc.
• Please see the Christmas Wish List for more suggestions. Copies of the list may be found on the table by the entrance to the Sanctuary and in the Magdala News.
Please place the items in the box labelled “Toys” by Sunday December 18, 2011.

Christmas Food Hampers
• Once again we will be making up hampers to help out the Christmas Cheer Board. Please sign up to bring in food items or gifts. Donations of cash or cheque are also welcome. Monitory gifts should be placed in an envelope marked as “Christmas Hampers” and included in the offertory. Please place the food items in the box labelled “Christmas Hampers” by Sunday, December 18. 2011.
• If you or someone you know requires a hamper this year please have them register with the Christmas Cheer Board at 989-5680.

Beginning December 4, 2:00 pm, there will be a weekly Sunday afternoon French Service taking place here at St. Mary Magdalene.

Hambira Family Fundraiser: A fundraiser at will take place at Breezy Bend Country Club on

Friday November 18 to help fund the escape and flights for the Hambira children. It is a reception and dinner starting at 6:30PM. Tickets are $60 with a tax receipt for $25. It is called ""Out of Africa Fund Raiser" and is organized and hosted by the Rotary Club of Charleswood. You may recall that Gertrude and George made a presentation at SMM during a coffee time last fall.
